Meet the Board: Phyllis Cosentino – National Instruments

Wireless Design and Development is excited to announce one of its newest editorial advisory board members, Phyllis Cosentino.

Phyllis Cosentino leads technical marketing efforts for RF, wireless, microwave, and communication design and test products at National Instruments. With recent acquisitions in the area of design/test for RF and Microwave, National Instruments is rapidly expanding in these fast growing markets including leading the way in cutting-edge communication design challenges such as 5G. 

Phyllis joined National Instruments with over 25 years of wireless industry experience including mobile, RF, CDMA, and base station and switching design and deployment. In 2007, Phyllis joined Dell as vice president of systems engineering as the company continued its expansion into wireless products and services. Prior to her four years at Dell, Phyllis spent 21 years at AT&T Bell Labs/Lucent/Alcatel where she held key positions in engineering, RF services, technical sales and product management. Within AT&T/Lucent’s Network Wireless Group, she worked closely with cellular service providers to define new and innovative capabilities for cellular networking and services. 

She is recognized as an industry expert in the development of cellular mobile registration capabilities, is the author of several conference publications on wireless technology, and holds multiple patents for her work in mobile call delivery. In 1996, she was awarded Eta Kappa Knu’s Outstanding Young Electrical Engineer Award and was cited for technical and leadership contributions in the field of wireless communication systems and dedication to community and professional activities. 

Prior to joining AT&T, Phyllis worked in the design of advanced sensor systems for the US Military at Diamond Laboratories in Adelphi, Maryland. She has served as an officer and editor of the IEEE Communications Society. 

Phyllis completed the Program for Executives at Carnegie Mellon University’s Tepper School of Business and has Bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Michigan.
