Moticont-LVCM-016-010-01Linear Voice Coil Actuator 4x5x300Moticont continues to add more linear DC motors to their LVCM line of Linear Voice Coil Actuators. The new addition is the LVCM-016-010-01 Linear Voice Coil Actuator. At 0.625-in. (15.9 mm) it is smaller in diameter than a penny and the length at mid-stroke it is just 0.63-in. (15.9 mm) long which is less than a stack of 12 pennies. This new miniature voice coil actuator has a continuous force of 5.9 oz (1.6 N) and a peak force of 18.6 oz (5.2 N), and features a 0.125-in. (3.2 mm) stroke.

The LVCM-016-010-01 Linear Actuator is a miniature brushless DC servo actuator which has high acceleration/deceleration and low inertia. Clean with zero cogging, and highly efficient, it is suitable for: Haptic feedback in medical/surgical instruments, assembly, work holding and clamping, sorting, laser machining and drilling, packaging, sampling, scanning, laser beam steering, and filtering, vibration damping, wafer handling, and pharmaceutical applications.

The LVCM-016-010-01 Linear Actuator features very high accuracy and repeatability when operated as a DC servo actuator in a closed servo loop using a position sensor.

Each end of linear actor has two 2-56 UNC-2B threaded mounting holes in the housing and two 2-56 UNC-2B threaded mounting holes in the coil end on 0.250-in. (6.35 mm) centers for easy integration into new and existing applications. A complete plug-and-play system including an encoder and servo controller is also available.

Is there a need for a still smaller or larger diameter motor, one with longer travel, or more force? There are 12 choices in this family of Moticont’s LVCM linear motors based on the diameter of the motor, and over 50 models based on length of stroke and/or force to select from.
