Fitness monitor company Misfit is adding the Internet of Things to its Flash sleep and activity tracker. On. Jan. 27 the company released details about Misfit Bolt, a smart bulb that can personalize home lighting using the Flash wristband, and a partnership with Nest and several other smart home apps and hardware.
The Bolt and other wearable controls were demonstrated at the Consumer Electronics Show, held in Los Vegas from Jan. 6 through Jan. 9.
With Nest, Misfit wants to create an integration of the Nest Learning Thermostat and Misfit’s own sleep tracking functionality, so that the user wakes up at their ideal temperature.
Some integration with Logitech Harmony is also planned, so that users can cue entertainment like games and movies with one touch of the Flash’s button.
Misfit announced that more partnerships are in the works, including IFTTT, the Leeo Smart Alert Nightlight, and Latch, a “stealth startup” designing smart home security.
Smart home devices were in the spotlight at CES, while Samsung and Apple are also aiming for the audience that wants to control their home from their wrist or phone.
