Important Information from MISUMI Regarding Today’s Earthquake in Japan
As you may be aware, Japan experienced an 8.9 magnitude earthquake last night which has also generated a powerful tsunami creating significant damage in Japan. As a result, the country has experienced power outages, loss of communications, structural and infrastructure damage. In addition, all airports have been shut down for a minimum of 48 hours.
We have confirmed that there will be no Misumi shipments from Japan on March 12 and 14. At this time, we are trying to confirm shipments beyond March 15, 2011. According to Patrick Esposito, Marketing Manager at MISUMI USA, “Representatives from Misumi’s Tokyo headquarters are currently assessing damage to our manufacturing and shipping facilities. All locally stocked parts will ship as scheduled and we are accepting orders as usual; however some products may be delayed.”
We will post updates as more information becomes available. If you have any questions, we are here to assist you, please call 1.800.681.7475.
We have learned that our employees are safe with their families. Our thoughts are with Japan as they recover from this devastating disaster.
Sincerely,
Misumi USA
