MISUMI Introduces Nitrogen Gas Springs with Enhanced Safety Features

By Editor | January 15, 2014

MISUMI USA, Inc., a subsidiary of MISUMI Corporation, part of MISUMI Group, Inc. (Tokyo: 9962), announced it is now offering a series of high quality Nitrogen Gas Springs to customers across North America. Manufactured in Italy to stringent quality standards, the gas springs offer unique safety features, rugged construction, high performance and high reliability.

MISUMI

Designed for use in the stamping die and mold industry for heavy load applications requiring compression, the nitrogen gas springs are engineered with various automatic pressure relief mechanisms designed to reduce the risk of workplace accidents and injuries that can occur from mishandling or malfunctioning springs and cylinders under pressure. These safety devices exhaust the pressure in a controlled and complete manner and prevent forceful ejection of parts when, for example, a cylinder has been over-stroked or stressed by uncontrolled returns.

Bryan Khoury, Die and Mold Engineer with MISUMI USA Die & Mold Division, notes: “MISUMI’s nitrogen gas springs have been popular in Asia since their introduction in 2011, and they continue to win over new markets at a rapid pace. We expect our North American customers engaged in die and other metal stamping press applications will appreciate the higher levels of workplace safety offered by these unique gas springs.”

MISUMI offers its new line of nitrogen gas springs in three different versions:

  • GSV – Global Standard Type
  • GST ‒ Robust Screw Type
  • GSK ‒ Classic ISO Type

The gas springs are compatible with 141 industry standard cylinder sizes. Pricing is competitive and shipping time is three (3) days, with express shipping option available. Repair kits are also available. Orders can be entered through MISUMI’s web catalog and can be consolidated with other die and mold components, such as punches, guide post sets and wear plates, for convenient one-stop shopping.
