MTL Instruments (www.mtl-inst.com) has unveiled a redundant fieldbus power system that features N+1 Redundancy, modular flexibility and on-line diagnostics.
Optimized for use in general purpose as well as hazardous area High Energy Trunk architectures, the 9180 Series redundant fieldbus power system is specifically designed to deliver redundant power to eight FOUNDATION fieldbus H1 segments.
The eight fieldbus segments derive their power from two groups of up to three 919x-FP four-segment power modules that operate in N+1 redundant configuration (load sharing).
Redundant applications demanding 250 to 500mA current per segment is provided with three 9191-FP power modules that are integrated on the carrier for every four segment group. Meanwhile, for redundant applications initially demanding up to 250mA current per segment, the carrier is fitted with two 9191-FP modules, with the option of integrating a third power module to enable for future segment power expansion.
Unlike a conventional 1+1 redundant architecture, the unique N+1 redundancy approach offers operators with lower lifetime operating costs and a 25 percent initial capital savings.
The 91802 Series can be easily integrated with all major DCS suppliers including Emerson DeltaV, Yokogawa, ABB 800xA, Invensys I/A Series and Honeywell Experion PKS. A component of MTL’s recently developed FieldPlus brand initiative, the 9180 Series power system is designed to make selection of fieldbus component easy based on the network architecture used.
