New Couplings From Misumi USA Include Double Disc Clamping, High Rigid, And Super Short Oldham

By Patrick Curran | August 12, 2010

New MISUMI Couplings offer a growing number of choices, sizes and configurations, including high precision Single Disc and Double Disc Clamping models, many of which are ideally suited for use with servo motors.  Also offered are Oldham, Slit and N Couplings, as well as Jaw, Sleeved, Bellows, and Resin types, in a variety of sizes and configurations.  Coupling components are typically used in the manufacture and assembly of industrial machines, as well as automation and motion control equipment and devices.

The new MISUMI Couplings products include:

• SCXW, a Double Disc Type High-Precision Disc Clamping Coupling offering high torque with no backlash.  Ideal for connection to servo motors, its torsional rigidity is up to 26 percent higher than conventional (standard) disc clamping couplings.  Excellent for applications requiring faster positioning precision.  All the bolts are Trivalent Chromate plated and suitable for use in clean environments.

• MFJGWK, a High Rigid Oldham Coupling, Set Screw Type, and MFJCGWK, a High Rigid Oldham Coupling, Clamping Type.  Both products feature an aluminum bronze spacer and have a keyed bore.  These couplings have allowable torque 2X higher compared to resin spacers.

• SCOC, a Super Short Oldham Coupling, Clamping/Spacer Type, a space-saving version suitable for use with miniature devices because it is 17 percent shorter than conventional types.

Most MISUMI Couplings ship in six (6) days, with the exception of the new High Rigid Oldham Couplings, which ship in eight (8) days.  Some Couplings offer optional express shipping for faster delivery.

Complete instructions for proper alignment adjustment of couplings, as well as specifications for allowable misalignment, can be found in MISUMI’s print and online catalog.  Proper alignment adjustment of couplings is very important because the repeated use of couplings over their allowable misalignments can rapidly shorten their life span or cause premature failure.  To prolong a coupler’s life span, it is recommended to keep each misalignment within one-third (1/3) of the stated allowable value.
