Moticont has debuted its most compact miniature hollow core linear actuator; the HVCM-016-010-003-01 linear voice coil motor, featuring a 0.125 in. (3.2 mm) open aperture and high force-to-size ratio. This miniature open aperture actuator is a true dc linear servo motor. Quiet and clean, this non-commutated, miniature brushless servo motor features: Zero cogging and zero backlash when connected directly to a load, high acceleration/deceleration, and high speed. Measuring just 0.625 in. (15.9 mm) by 0.625 in. (15.9 mm) long at mid-stroke, it has a continuous force rating of 5.0 oz. (1.4 N) and a peak force of 15.7 oz (4.4 N) at a 10% duty cycle.
The open aperture of the HVCM-016-010-003-01 linear motor allows for optics, illumination, and laser beams. It’s suitable for applications such as haptic feedback, medical diagnostic equipment, testing, optical focusing, positioning, laser beam steering, wafer handling, dynamic vibration absorption, laser drilling, cutting, welding, and machining applications.
Two threaded 2-56 UNC-2B (or M2.2X0.45) mounting holes on a 0.250 in. (6.4 mm) bolt circle in the housing and coil ends allow for flexible and easy integration into new and existing applications. When used in closed-loop applications with an adequate position sensor, highly precise positioning and movement is achievable.
A complete plug-and-play system including an encoder and servo controller is also available on request.
