Exchanging data using neutral file formats such as IGES and STEP can cause problems due to inaccuracies in two step conversions: one from the source format to neutral and the other from the neutral format to the destination format. Moreover, neutral formats like IGES have many variants thereby making their accuracy dependent upon the flavor of IGES that is used. For these reasons many companies prefer to receive data back in the format that they sent it out. These plug-ins wil help in situations where AutoCAD and SolidWorks users wish to work with CATIA V4 and V5 users.
