Newly definited disc pack couplings

Coupling Tips

R+W Coupling Technology has taken big steps in improving and broadening its range of the maintenance free disc pack couplings. Seven new sizes from 350Nm to 24,000Nm are available to better meet customer torque requirements and space limitations. Additional connection methods allow for easier installation and maintenance of these couplings. unnamed

After working closely with 2 universities and developing its own in-house testing facility, R+W was able to optimize its disc pack and tube design to create a better balanced coupling. The spacers are customizable and can be designed for any length requested by the customer.

The LP series is a backlash free coupling that is driven through pure friction force. The connecting flanges are pressed to the disc pack faces using high strength bolts. This means that, when properly assembled, the torque is transmitted purely through the disc pack and no additional stress is placed on the bolt shanks, providing more even stress distribution and increasing reliability. Finite element analysis was completed in order to verify that this new design is more robust and reliable than its predecessor.
