Radford, VA — Nippon Pulse America’s linear servomotor, the Linear Shaft Motor, is the ideal choice for designers seeking reliability, precision, zero maintenance, and an easy update to their current servo system.
The Linear Shaft Motor is a brushless direct drive tubular linear servomotor consisting of just a magnetic shaft and a moving coil assembly (forcer) which is controlled by the flow of current. The Linear Shaft Motor was modeled after the ball screw and designed based on three basic concepts: SIMPLE, HIGH PRECISION, and NON-CONTACT.
SIMPLE construction/easy installation. The Linear Shaft Motor consists of only two parts, a magnetic shaft and a “forcer” of cylindrically wound coils. In addition, the non-critical air gap makes installation easier than most ball screw and belt drive systems.
HIGH PRECISION. Linear Shaft Motors have no iron in the forcer or the shaft, resulting in precision and zero cogging expected in a coreless design.
NON-CONTACT. The Linear Shaft Motor’s coil completely surrounds the magnets, which ensures all the magnetic flux is used.
The Linear Shaft Motor requires no lubrication and no adjustment maintenance, thereby making it maintenance free. Add to that the fact that there is no wear or aging, as found in ball screw and belt drive systems, and the result is a reliable motor that needs little attention after it is installed.
There is no contact between the forcer and shaft and the motor is not affected by environmental changes, allowing the Linear Shaft Motor to make very precise movements — at low or high speeds.
The Linear Shaft Motor is available in eleven (11) different shaft diameters, ranging from 4mm to 50mm; stroke lengths of 20mm to 4.6M, achievable peak force of 2340N, and a maximum continuous force of 585N. The Linear Shaft Motor also offers the option of adding waterproofing and digital Hall Effects.
Pricing for the Linear Shaft Motor starts at just over $240 for the 4mm shaft with stroke of 20mm. The Linear Shaft Motor is ideal for applications in test laboratories, production processes using water or vacuum situations, high-precision conveying situations, and semiconductor equipment.
Nippon Pulse America, Inc. is the wholly owned American subsidiary of Nippon Pulse Motor Co., Ltd. Nippon Pulse offers various controllers (boards and chips), drivers (boards and chips), and motors (tin-can, hybrid and linear servo) to cover almost any motion application.
