NKK Now Offers 0.250” Quick Connect Terminals On WR Rockers

By Design World Staff | February 28, 2007

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — NKK Switches, an industry leader in the design and manufacturing of electromechanical switches, announced today that its WR series of environmentally sealed rocker switches is now available with 0.250” quick connect terminals. The addition of the quick connect terminal reduces and simplifies assembly time and allows more wide spread use in applications requiring high current switching.

In addition, the entire WR series is now an even more cost effective switch solution with a 20-25 percent cost reduction in the base price of the entire product offering. Already a favored solution, the WR series is now even more attractive to design engineers struggling to find a cost effective switch component for robust requirements.

The WR series of standard size rockers boasts a sealed construction that conforms to IP60 for behind panel and IP67 of IEC529 Standards for front panel, allowing for use in outdoor or other harsh environments. NKK uses a specially designed switching mechanism for breaking light welds qualifying these rockers to IEC 61058 (UL 61058-1).

The outer housing is constructed of a heat resistant resin meeting UL94V-0 flammability ratings. The sealed actuator area and epoxy sealed base prevent entry of contaminants.

Available in single SPST and SPDT in a wide range of circuit options, the WR series of rockers comes standard in black or ivory rocker cap options. For custom color options, such as appliance white, contact the factory. Terminals can be specified in 0.250” quick connect, solder lug, screw lug or wire lead.  The wire leads are sheathed with heat resistant vinyl in accordance to UL 1015 and CSA TEW 105 Standards for Appliance Wiring Material (AWM).

The WR series of environmentally sealed rockers are rated 15A @ 125/250 AC or 15A @ 30V DC. Operating temperature range is -25°C through +85°C (-13°F through-185°F).

Mechanical life is rated 30,000 operations minimum for all circuits. Electrical life is rated 15,000 operations minimum for maintained circuits and 10,000 operations minimum for momentary circuits. Dielectric strength is 1,250V AC minimum between contacts and 3,750V AC minimum between contacts and base.

Agency Approvals include UL Recognition, C-UL, VDE and EN conformity.

A leading designer and producer of electromechanical switches, NKK Switches offers one of the industry’s most extensive selections of illuminated, process sealed, miniature, specialty and surface mount switches. The company manufactures more than four million toggle, rocker, pushbutton, slide, rotary and DIP rotary, keypad and keylock switches. NKK Switches maintains a complete network of qualified representatives and distributors through the United States, Canada, Central and South America, Europe and Asia.
