NPS40-M Series Open Frame Power Supplies

By Design World Staff | March 3, 2010

Carlsbad, CA – Emerson Network Power announced the NPS40-M series open frame power supplies. With a compact 2 inch by 4 inch footprint and a height of just 1 inch, the NPS40-M series supports up to 45 W with convection cooling and up to 60 W with forced air cooling. Backed by a comprehensive set of worldwide IT equipment (ITE) and non-patient contact and non-patient critical medical safety approvals, the power supplies are also ideal for use in light industrial, instrumentation and process systems as well as low-power dental and laboratory equipment.

Under normal operating conditions, NPS40-M power supplies require less than 74 W of input power and consume less than 300 milliwatts of power under no-load conditions. They have a high typical full-load efficiency of 87 percent and meet a variety of rigorous efficiency standards, including Energy Star 2.0, California Energy Commission (CeC) and International Efficiency Level V.

Available in five models with outputs ranging from 5 V to 48 V, adjustable by plus or minus 20 percent, NPS40-M power supplies accept a wide universal input voltage range of 90 to 264 Vac (127 to 300 Vdc), enabling them to be used anywhere in the world. The power supplies can operate at full load in temperatures ranging from zero to 50 degrees Celsius and up to 80 degrees Celsius with derating. They are comprehensively protected against overload and overvoltage conditions and deliver a demonstrated mean time between failures (MTBF) of more than 550,000 hours. An optional enclosure kit (LPX50) is also available to ensure maximum component protection.

All NPS40-M power supplies feature built-in EMI filters (CISPR 22 Class B) and meet rigorous EN55022-B and FCC part 15 Level B EMC conducted noise standards. Safety approvals include UL/ TUV/CSA/NEMKO 60950/60601-1, CE Mark EMC/LVD certification, CQC Mark and CB certification.

Available now, Emerson Network Power’s NPS40-M power supply series is competitively priced starting at $26.00 per unit in production quantities. For detailed product information or to inquire about a sample, visit http://www.powerconversion.com/products/websheet/413/NPS40-M.
