Omron has enhanced its latest version of the CP1L compact PLC to deliver flexible Ethernet communications as standard.
Utilized for communication and programming, CP1L’s embedded Ethernet port offers programmable connectivity to various Ethernet supported devices while its Socket Services function provides a flexible network connection that allows users to seamlessly adopt the required Ethernet protocol for their application. Its socket services allow the compact PLC to connect to a vast array of devices as it supports standard Ethernet protocols such as TCP, UDP and Modbus/TCP.
OEMs standardizing on Ethernet for communications enjoys several advantages. One of which is the reduced costs on cabling given that Ethernet is widely supported and used. Ethernet also offers optimum network flexibility as cables between nodes can measure up to 100 m in length. In addition, its implementation in the CP1L enables up to three simultaneous connections in a single cable.
The CP1L is offered in three Ethernet enabled versions — offering 20 I/O points, 30 I/O points or 40 I/O points. Two 0 to 10V analog inputs are also offered as standard. In case more analog I/O is needed, the CP1L can also be expanded using new optional boards that add two more inputs, two outputs, or both two inputs and two outputs in each unit.
Specifically designed for machine builders, the CP1L combines the simplicity of a compact PLC with the capability of a modular PLC. Aside from offering four high-speed encoder inputs, all models of the CP1L series also deliver two high-speed pulse outputs and various ready-to-use Function Blocks. The high level of expansion capability of the CP1L series includes options for temperature inputs, digital and analog I/O and serial interface boards.
