Pentair Announces Collaboration with ZNYX Networks Inc.

By Frank Tobe | December 10, 2013

—Pentair Equipment Protection announces its Schroff® brand has collaborated with ZNYX Networks to develop ZNYX’s new Ultra5™ ZX2000 ATCA chassis system. To serve the expanding 10G and 40G backplane market, ZNYX Networks worked with Schroff, a brand in ATCA solutions, for its extensive engineering experience and leadership role in the ATCA market. The result is the ZX2000 Series, which delivers high density revenue-generating blade capacity within a flexible 5U ATCA chassis.

“Schroff’s ATCA chassis’ provide our customers with a highly flexible 10G and 40G platform for developing cutting-edge, integrated high-capacity solutions,” said Marc Caiola, Schroff Channel & Marketing Manager, North America, Pentair. “As a global provider of high availability embedded Ethernet solutions, ZNYX has pioneered a small footprint blade server platform that leverages the true value of standards-based computing. Through our partnership, we have assisted ZNYX in its development of the ZX2000 to deliver critical performance and reliability, while ensuring faster time-to-market and lower total cost of ownership.”

By integrating a full-featured ATCA switch with the shelf manager in the space normally used by the shelf manager alone, the ZX2000 provides six ATCA 3.1 payload slots instead of the four that would otherwise be available in the 5U space. This innovation leverages the benefits of open-standard backplane and chassis technology.

“Customer demand to maximize their revenue opportunities inspired ZNYX to engineer the advanced Ultra5 ZX2000. Our innovative design provides 50 percent more ATCA payload than standard dual star chassis,” said Connie Austin, President and CEO of ZNYX Networks. “As a leading chassis design provider, Schroff was able to quickly meet our power and cooling specifications for the Ultra5 solution-enabled platform.”

ZNYX Networks offers both 10G and 40G switch products for the ZX2000 chassis with an extensive array of features based on its own OpenArchitect® switch operating system product. Capabilities include high availability, packet vectoring and extensive high-level protocol support.
