Pepperl+Fuchs Hosting Two Seminars on The Fundamentals of Intrinsic Safety

Pepperl+Fuchs is hosting The Fundamentals of Intrinsic Safety (EX) Seminar on April 29, 2010, in St. Louis, MO, and on June 24, 2010, in Greenville, SC. In this educational, non-commercial training seminar Pepperl+Fuchs will provide an in-depth overview of the theory behind Intrinsic Safety (EX) protection and its proper application within the process industry. Registration is required.

The class will cover a range of topics including Hazardous (Classified) location identification, functional principals of zener diode protection and galvanic isolation, entity vs. loop approvals, as well as certifications and control drawings. At the conclusion of this course, attendees will:

* Understand the basic concepts of Intrinsic Safety (Ex) protection
* Be able to determine which apparatus (zener/galvanic) best solves a given application
* Be able to specify and proof a system for intrinsic safety
* Understand the Safety Integrity Levels (SIL)
* Understand the basic guidelines for installation and maintenance in hazardous locations

The seminar runs from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.  The registration cost is $350 per person, which includes materials and lunch. Attendees will receive a certificate for Professional Development Hours upon completing the course.    

Pepperl+Fuchs will be hosting additional process automation seminars throughout 2010, including:

·The Fundamentals of Fieldbus Technology – April 21, 2010 (Houston, TX)

·Hazardous (Classified) Location Instrumentation – April 28, 2010 (St. Louis, MO); June 23, 2010 (Greenville, SC)
