This folding canoe is designed for easy portage – really easy, since it folds up into a carrying case.

The Onak has space for three people plus baggage, and folds up into a 47 x 15.7 x 10-in rolling case. The rolling part could cause some trouble on rocky beaches, but it’s also about 37 lb, more than suitable for carrying.

When unfolded, the Onak canoe is 183 in long and 33.5 in wide, and can carry about 400 lb. The packaging is formed by the sides of the hill, while the paddles and other pieces are stored in the center

In the announcement of the new product (via Gizmag), the company behind Onak said they’re using a Kickstarter campaign to fund the first batch of canoes. Supporters who pledge €895 ($995) can receive one if they’re among the first 50 backers, while the price goes up to €995 ($1,105) after 50 orders. The canoe is expected to retail at €1,195 ($1,325).
