Sand 9 announced it is the first MEMS company to achieve the stringent low-noise, high-stability and harsh environmental requirements for communications infrastructure, industrial and military applications. The TM651, based on Sand 9’s Temperature Compensated MEMS Oscillator (TCMO) platform is presented as a better alternative to existing quartz and MEMS-based timing solutions. According to the company, the TM651 offers exceptional activity dip suppression, desirable shock and vibration immunity, and EMI protection. It is also said to provide 100 times better electromechanical coupling over conventional electrostatic MEMS architectures for a significantly higher SNR ratio. Features include a 125 MHz high frequency with differential output and a low current drain, and <300 fs max rms jitter from 12 kHz to 20 MHz.
