Pushbutton switches work with PKE/PEPS automotive lock systems

By Lee Teschler | March 12, 2021

The Pushbutton Switch series PB-Sx has a superior electrical, mechanical, and waterproof performance especially designed for vehicle access and other applications in harsh environments.

Many of the vehicles currently manufactured in the world feature a KES (keyless premoentry system) where LF antennas, pushbutton switches, and LEDs are commonly use and assembled in the door handle.

This PB-Sx series has been designed and manufactured following the European and International PREMO patents EP3726552A1 and WO2020212406A1, respectively, to provide a 100% sealed component against ingress of water and pressurized water (IP6k9), extremely functional conditions (20k pulses underwater), and mechanical life endurance (reliability) >10E5 with a nominal push-force of 12 ±3 N.

Premo also provides a special interior design feature to avoid any breakage due to random assembly operations, where an external shear forces can be applied against the door handle or even as a result of frictional impacts against a sidewall of the vehicle in narrow passages. This last innovation is patent pending.

This range of pushbuttons is completely configurable within each model in relation to the length of the cable, the terminals (based on the final connector) and the series resistor.

PREMO fast mold-making technology allows easy customization of button shape and housing dimensions, to fit into any existing or new door handler designs. In-house plastic injection processes combined with 3Dprinting and fast-prototype equipment provide custom made switch samples in less than 4 weeks lead time.

Formats are different: Switches with integrated rigid button on top, developed for exposed external locations. Switches fully made with rubber compound, for interior usage on hidden lash door handlers. Switches with chromed buttons, for exterior installations with visual aspect matching on metallic paintings under demand. And switches with patented additional mechanical protection, increasing the robustness and mechanical performance up to limits never reached before on a single tact-switch button complex design.
