Prevost unveiled the ‘New Generation PS1’ coupler as part of the company’s HVLP (High Flow) profile.
The PS1 is an innovative quick release and completely new coupling for compressed air. It utilizes ground-breaking patented technology that makes it convenient, easy and safe to use.
The PS1 coupler was designed because non-safety or unsecured couplers could hose-whip during disconnection, leading to accidents and injuries.
Typical couplings usually purge compressed air on the supply side before the plug is released, which is done through a double lock device. However, the user must operate the safety coupling twice in order to disconnect. This two-step process is usually done by pushing the sleeve back and pulling it forward again or rotating the sleeve from right to left, depending on the instructions.
With the PS1, the two-step process has been simplified. These couplings utilize compressed air on the supply side to sustain the first locking phase. When the compressed air is expelled, the coupling will automatically unlock the second locking device; hence, releasing the plug.
Instead of performing two actions, users just need to push the button on the PS1, greatly coupler, greatly facilitating the purging of air and the release of the plug.
Purge and release time ranges from a few seconds to a couple of seconds depending on the diameter of the hose and the volume of compressed air.
