Programmable LED Drivers for Lighting Applications

By Patrick Curran | May 19, 2010

San Diego, CA – TDK-Lambda has released the new LEDC10 series of dc-dc, LED Drivers that are designed for LED lighting applications with output ratings up to 10-watts. The LEDC10-12-R48 is a non-isolated, constant-current LED driver housed in a compact single in-line package (SIP). They operate with a wide range DC input of from 4.5V to 20Vdc and provide a programmable constant-current output of from 0 to 480 mA with a drive voltage of from 3V to 20V. PWM LED light-dimming is an included feature of these drivers.

The constant-current output range is programmable via external logic levels or jumpers connected to trim pins on the driver. In addition, LED light-dimming control is accommo-dated via a PWM control input with a duty cycle range of 10% to 100%, or by using the logic level trim inputs. By applying different combinations of logic “1” and “0” levels to the trim inputs, the maximum output drive current will change to 50mA, 150mA, 350mA, and finally 480mA.

All models are convection cooled and can operate in ambient temperatures from -40°C to +85°C at full load without deratings. Typical efficiencies are 87%. Other standard features include overcurrent and overvoltage protections. The SIP drivers measure only 1.26” wide x 0.60” high x 0.33” thick and weigh just 6 grams. All units come with TDK-Lambda’s industry leading 3-year warranty.

The LEDC10 series are available now and priced from $17 each in 1,000 piece quantities. For more information call TDK-Lambda directly at 1-800-LAMBDA-4 or view the full specifications at: http://us.tdk-lambda.com/lp/products/LED10-series.htm

These new dc-dc LED drivers have broadened TDK-Lambda’s offerings of LED power products, which also include the LD12 series of 12-watt, splash-proof, ac-dc power supplies, available in either constant-current or constant-voltage models.
