G3 Technologies has introduced the RioExpress Specialized Wireless I/O, the latest addition to G3 Technologies wireless solutions. The unit is highly integrated and optimized for outdoor, alternative-power-use applications, and has 4 digital inputs, 4 digital outputs, 2 high resolution analog inputs and 2 high resolution analog outputs. It is a simple & robust solution for remote monitor/control of tank levels, pressures, temperature, flow, valves, pumps, compressors, security and etc. in a variety of industrial, environmental, agricultural and utility applications. It is available in NEMA 4X pkg or a module for integration into your own system.
The RioExpress module can be used in pairs to replicate (mirror) I/O signals for cable replacement, or individually as a Slave device using industry-standard MODBUS protocol. As a Modbus Slave the RioExpress is compatible with popular Modbus Master devices (PLC, RTU, EFM, or Process Controller) and SCADA software packages including G3’s VUE, as well as packages like WonderWare®, FactoryLink® and NI Lookout®.
When using a pair of RioExpress modules for cable replacement, factory DIP switch settings provide true out-of-the-box operation with self-managed wireless communications. Four digital and two analog signals are replicated from one unit to the other, bidirectional. Update rates and power-save modes are DIP switch selectable.
As a MODBUS Slave, the RioExpress can be used in point-to-point or point-to-multipoint applications, and in addition to the 4 DIs and 2 AIs there are two pulse totalizers with accompanying rate registers (for event-capture or metering) and a third analog register monitoring battery voltage. Also, the DOs can be issued as a timed pulse.
Ultra-low power consumption along with power management options provides the flexibility to optimize the power savings while meeting application performance requirements. For many applications, the RioExpress can operate with a solar panel 5 watts or less. Notable features include: Simple DIP switch settings (no software configuration), integrated license-free ISM-band spread spectrum radio (900MHz or 2.4GHz) or optional VHF/UHF, internal 12/24V transducer supply, self-resetting fuses, relay contacts for digital outputs, and highly integrated package requiring little or no additional components for most remote applications
Typical applications include oil/gas wellhead & facilities, pipelines, water/wastewater, irrigation, mining, solid waste landfill, bulk storage tanks, pumps & pump stations and environmental monitoring.
