To meet the needs of the semiconductor industry’s engineering labs for better data collection and sample test throughput, Axis Robotics designed the MicroMax, a five axis semiconductor handler with industry standard 13 tray JEDEC stacker. The 13-tray capacity can be thirteen 0.400-in. thick trays or twenty-three 0.0225-in. thin trays. The handler requires a 0.060-in. or greater socket lead-in for placement, and has been tested with package sizes down to 5 mm. It comes equipped with an air-puff release for smaller packages.
The handler is simple to program and operate, with minimal facility requirements, including a PC with USB port, OFA @ 7 bar, and a 120-240 VAC single phase power source. User-friendly software is included. For the experienced user, the manual goes through an easy method to create custom automation software. Multiple MicroMax-to-tester communication handshake methods allow the system to fit a wide variety of applications.
Built-in safety features include dual pressure socket actuation, covers for all high voltage connections, motor torque speed limits that are set through the software so that users don’t exceed the original default motor current, velocity, or acceleration settings. An optional safety/security enclosure complete with EMO button is also available.
