A new version of Maplesoft-MAA Placement Test suite (PTS) is available. It is a collection of placement tests developed by the Mathematical Association of America (MAA) and delivered through the online testing and assessment tool, Maple T.A. This latest release includes a new set of high school prognostic tests that projects placements in college mathematics courses before students arrive on campus.
A new MapleSim 3 feature lets you preview multi-body models, such as this hand-operated hydraulic jack, so you can verify they are correct before running the simulation.
Using these tests, colleges can ensure that more incoming students arrive prepared for college-level mathematics courses. Colleges can save money by reducing the number of remedial classes offered, and students can avoid the extra time and costs associated with taking remedial courses.
PTS also offers improvements in organizing and searching for question content. For those who wish to customize test content, revision tracking makes it easier to try different variants of the same question, while improved assignment creation makes it easier to manage groups of related questions. It is reported that the software helps colleges and universities assess students’ mathematics knowledge.
