Bulgin has announced a new, extensive range of rectangular power connectors including 2, 3, 4, 6, 8 and 12 pole versions, intended for demanding cable-to-cable applications. With a high current rating (13 A), these connectors have a robust construction that ensures continued reliability in harsh operational environments. Thanks to their silicone rubber seals, these connectors fully conform to IP68 and IP69K standards, offering protection against the ingress of water, dust, etc. Compliance with EN60068-2-52 means they can be used in marine deployments too.
These connectors’ moldings consist of polybutylene terephthalate with polyamide glass fiber reinforcements embedded. Their contacts are made of copper alloy, with either nickel or gold plating specified. 14 to 20 AWG diameter wires can be accommodated. A variety of optional added features are available. These include enhanced seal retention capabilities, protective end caps, shrink boot adapters, welded flanges and terminating resistors. Y-type connector terminations are also offered, to address automotive implementations.
Support from 100 mating cycles further underlines the durability of these new Bulgin connectors, covering an operational temperature range of –40° to 120°C. Wedge-locks are supplied for greater contact retention, resulting in the ability to withstand forces of 111 N. An insulation resistance of over 1,000 MΩ (at 500 Vdc) prevents leakage current issues.
