Ams and Sunny Opotech have teamed up to develop 3D sensing cameras for automotive and mobile device applications to OEMS.
The camera solutions created as part of the joint project will include 3D sensing applications which combine both groups’ optical technologies and components, plus the necessary software and algorithms. In particular, the companies want to target global OEMs in the mobile device and smartphone space who are looking into implementing 3D consumer applications or 3D sensing camera systems for automotive applications.
Ams CEO Alexander Everke emphasized the automotive side of the deal in his official comments. “Teaming up with Sunny Opotech, we are accelerating the time-to-market and availability of high quality 3D sensing solutions for smartphones and mobile devices where efficient module integration is key to enable 3D sensing for smartphone OEMs. At the same time, this collaboration allows us to pursue emerging 3D sensing opportunities in the automotive world.”
