Serial port adapter supports FTP and OPP Bluetooth profiles connectBlue’s Bluetooth Serial Port Adapter makes it easy to implement Bluetooth in an Industrial setting. It lessons the demands on the host CPU, which up to this point, had to carry a full Bluetooth stack to implement FTP and OPP profiles.
With the adapter, no standalone Host Controller Interface (HCI) module is necessary. The adapter implements all protocols up to the Radio Frequency Communication (RFCOMM), so the host needs only to support the Object Exchange (OBEX) protocol and FTP and OPP profiles. The adapter includes support for the FTP and OPP profiles, as well as the Serial Port Profile (SPP) and Dial-up Networking (DUN) profile. Additionally, it contains more of the Bluetooth protocol than typical HCI modules. Common industrial applications for this device include transferring configuration files to control systems and collecting process data (e.g. statistics).
