Single-phase proportional output controllers features selectable switching modes

carloCarlo Gavazzi is proud to announce the launch of their new Single Phase RGx1P Proportional Output Controllers. With a typical solid state relay, the output from measuring or monitoring devices is an analog signal that needs to be converted to a discrete signal to control a ‘common’ solid state relay. This can be costly, complicated and occupies additional panel space. With RG Proportional Output Controllers there is no need for this conversion. Upon input from an analog signal, the RG Controller calculates and delivers the necessary output power without the need for additional interface device.

The RG Series devices are equipped with user selectable switching modes to address different application requirements. Apart from three full cycle switching modes for basic heating applications, the RG Series also features advanced full cycle control for short wave infrared heaters, phase angle switching mode for resistive heaters, light dimming and speed control of AC fans and soft starting for heating elements with low cold state resistance. RGC1P Contactors offer the simplicity of an ‘out of the box’ ready-to-use solution with integrated heat sink, while RGS1P Solid State Relays require a proper external heat sink before they can be used in an application.

An optional tamper proof ‘lock out’ cover is also available as an accessory, to provide that added application security that some users prefer.

Typical applications include (but are not limited to) proportional control of resistive heating elements and speed of AC motors in HVAC application, control of short wave infrared heaters in semiconductor equipment or intensity of incandescent lighting in an agricultural application.
