Smart LUA script processing, bi-directional MQTT messaging and new hardware added to the Ixxat [email protected] NT and CANbridge series

With the new Service Pack 2, HMS Networks extends the functionality of the Ixxat CANnet NT and CANbridge NT series.

Users can now add smart, event-controlled network actions and versatile bi-directional MQTT-messaging to cloud applications. The new hardware CANnet NT 100 complements the CANnet NT range with new network connectivity. The Ixxat CANnet NT and CANbridge NT product families enable smart and seamless CAN-based networking on-site and remotely¤ The CANbridge NT enables easy coupling of up to four CAN and CAN-FD networks using filter and translation rules. Network wiring can be simplified through tree and star topologies, and all connected segments are protected thanks to electrically isolated bus interfaces. All CANnet NT products come with an additional Ethernet interface, allowing very distributed networks by coupling up to four CANnet NT devices using Ethernet. CANnet NT products also allow remote access to CAN and CAN-FD networks via Ethernet and PC.

New SP2 functionality powers up the CANnet NT and CANbridge series
The new Service Pack 2 introduces enhanced “Action Rules” programming for flexible definition and execution of events and actions for all CANnet NT and CANbridge products. Based on LUA script processing, these user-defined actions can be triggered upon e.g. pre-defined message content or status information.

The Ethernet interface of the CANnet NT series enables direct cloud connectivity via the implemented MQTT protocol. In SP2, bi-directional MQTT messaging is introduced. In addition to transmitting e.g. alarms and status information to mobile devices, messages can now also be received from the cloud for LUA script-based pre-processing, plausibility checking and transmission to the CAN bus.

CANnet NT 100 – new connectivity
HMS also introduces a new hardware – CANnet NT 100 – that offers a D-Sub 9 network connector for CAN/CAN-FD network connectivity, complementing the existing CANnet NT 200 and 420 products that both feature screw terminals. The CANnet NT 100 is a direct successor of the older CANnet II which means that existing customers can exchange installed CANnet II units in existing systems with CANnet 100 NT and benefit from all the new functionality provided in SP2.
