Schaumburg, IL – Misumi USA, Inc. offers machine builders and industrial plant engineers a large portfolio of Sound Proofing and Vibration Absorption Materials to help resolve challenges related to machine-generated noise and vibration.
The materials used in the various types of panels include Vinyl Acetate, Urethane Foam, and Butyl Rubber – some utilizing a single material, others utilizing various combinations and surfaces, with the choice depending on the application involved and the sound/vibration reduction effects desired.
Misumi’s selection of Sound Proofing and Vibration Absorption products is divided into the following three general categories.
• Sound Insulation Materials, which reflect sound and change the vibration frequency to decrease their sound generation.
• Sound Absorption Materials, which absorb the sound, converting sound energy into heat energy through internal friction.
• Vibration Absorption Materials, which convert the vibration energy of a solid surface into heat energy and decrease sound generation from vibrations.
All panels feature a powerful adhesive surface on one side, from which a peelable paper backing can be removed. The material can then be applied to form a secure bond with the surface involved – which may be on the wall of an automated work cell or a machine enclosure, for example, or direct application onto the surface of a metal pipe, plate, tray or any other part causing the unwanted sound or vibration. All panels are made of incombustible materials that can be cut and shaped to fit using a utility knife with the adhesive surface up.
The Vibration Absorption Materials selection also features a variety of anti-vibration gel and rubber pads that will greatly reduce vibration of machine elements when mounted on top of these products.
