Southco, a provider of engineered access hardware, congratulates Michelle Copp on being recognized as one of 35 recipients of the Sixth Annual Women of Excellence Awards. Copp is the primary press setup/operator at Southco’s Honeoye Falls, N.Y., facility.
The award was presented by Metalforming magazine in conjunction with the Precision Metalforming Association (PMA) and with the support of the Women in Manufacturing Association (WiM).
For the past six years, the Women of Excellence in Metal Forming & Fabricating awards have recognized the accomplishments and contributions of women in the industry — women in leadership positions or on the shop floor who represent dedication to their company and the industry, demonstrating excellence day in and day out.
Southco’s Copp was selected as one of 35 award recipients. She has worked at Southco for 28 years, starting in assembly and serving as a secondary press operator and windscreen technician before moving into her current position as a primary setup press operator.
The selection committee notes that Copp possesses solid technical, parts, and setup knowledge and is a consistent contributor to the business. She has made numerous positive contributions by sharing her technical expertise and press troubleshooting skills with new associates.
Copp is admired by her Southco colleagues for her dedication not only to the job at hand, but to all the people she works with, as well as her outstanding work ethic and well-rounded skill set.
“Manufacturing provides women with countless opportunities in all aspects of the business,” Copp said. “There tends to be plenty of room to grow and advance within a company. I feel a great sense of pride knowing that the products I help make are making a difference in people’s lives.”
