A slotted pin is a general-purpose, low-cost component used in numerous fastening applications. Compressed as it is installed, the pin applies continuous pressure toward the sides of the hole wall.
The primary spring action of this pin is focused on the area opposite the slot as the two halves of the pin compress during installation. This flexibility allows the slotted pin to accommodate wider hole tolerances than rigid solid pins — and this results in reduced manufacturing costs of the component.
Also known as roll pins, split pins, expansion pins, tension pins, or simply spring pins, SPIROL’s Slotted Spring Pins are available in high carbon steel and stainless steel in diameters ranging from: 2mm to 12mm for metric pins and .062” (1/16) up to .500” (1/2) for inch pins.
