TE Connectivity (TE) today announced its new 48-V bus bar connectors and cable assemblies, designed to meet next-generation 48-V application requirements including the Open Compute Project (OCP) Open Rack Standard V2.0 designs. These products will be showcased for the first time at TE’s booth B23 during the OCP Summit in San Jose, Calif. March 20 and 21.
These bus bar connectors and cable assemblies allow for a single vertical bus bar to be used in the rack, simplifying the overall system design and lowering product costs. 48-V solutions enable lower power consumption than 12-V solutions, and the same connectors and cable assemblies can be used in a variety of data center applications including power, battery backup units and cubby shelves. This versatility allows customers to purchase fewer types of products, simplifying inventory control.
“By moving to 48-volt power distribution, the OCP spec reduces the amount of power consumed to make compliant designs more efficient,” said Phil Gilchrist, CTO TE Data & Devices. “We believe 48-volt power is the way forward for next-generation data center designs and are excited to be supporting these designs with our new bus bar connector and cable assembly products.”
