Robots, start your engines
Formula E, the race series for electric vehicles, is starting to look a little “old hat” compared to Roborace, the first driverless electric racing series. Competitors in a Roborace will all use the same hardware platform. As explained by Roborace CTO Bryn Balcombe, the competition will focus on which team fields the best software. Races are already planned in 2018 for Rome, Berlin, and Zurich – all sites for Formula E races this year. But it’s not clear how many competitors will run in these first races. Balcombe says there will be at least two.
