Steering wheels that sense when you’re excited
The Seoyon Group is a Tier-One supplier from South Korea that displayed an interesting idea for steering wheel controls. Though the switches looked ordinary, they actually used optical sensing to detect the presence of the driver’s finger, thereby implementing a touch sensing scheme. Using a similar idea, the steering wheel could also sense the driver’s heart rate and related data when the driver pressed both thumbs in the right place on the wheel. Seoyon also displayed a body control unit and battery management unit (below) said to improve HEV fuel efficiency and battery performance.
