The one-piece Nutzilla simplifies the installation of large bolts

By Michelle Froese | August 30, 2021

If you use giant bolts, then APM Hexseal‘s Nutzilla Sealnut offer an uncomplicated and easy-to-use solution for oversized fasteners.

APM Hexseal’s Nutzilla keeps bolts firmly sealed so that moisture, dust, and other environmental factors will not have a negative impact on the efficacy of the hardware.

Nutzilla’s capabilities simplify the installation process and eliminate the need for extra gaskets and sealants that can complicate installation because this product seals itself.

Nutzilla are available in sizes up to M90 and are made from high-quality rubber, molded into a specially shaped cavity in the nut.

As the threads are molded directly into the rubber, these self-sealing nuts form a positive seal along the threaded section of the nut, as well as with the contact surface.

Like APM’s other Seelnuts and sealing hardware, the company uses a proprietary metal-to-rubber bonding process to create Nutzillas. The single-piece design guarantees a nut that provides a consistent, reliable seal for ordinary large bolts without the need for additional gaskets or messy sealing compounds.

Some of the benefits offered by Nutzilla include:

  • Reusability
  • A shelf life exceeding 25 years
  • High seal integrity

As one of the top gargantuan nuts on the market, Nutzilla provides an ideal self-sealing solution for the following applications:

  • Bridge and tunnel building
  • Environments from -103° to 400° F
  • Excavation equipment
  • Industrial construction
  • Oil and gas production
  • Power generation
  • Subterranean and underwater infrastructure
  • Transportation

These applications have no room for early bolt failure due to corrosion or wear. The reliable sealing hardware also helps to keep the bolt properly seated through shifting, vibration, and other disruptive factors found in harsh operating environments.

APM Hexseal was also named as a recipient of the 2021 Fastener Innovation Award for our Nutzilla Seelnut solution.
