TraceParts Announces Debut of New 3D Community, Redesigned Web Site

By Barb Schmitz | October 16, 2014

TraceParts Inc., a leading provider of 3D engineering content, announced yesterday that it has launched a new 3D community that will aim to connect CAD users and suppliers. The community, which will be called 3D Exchange (3DX), will also be a platform on which community members can display their work and solicit feedback. The company is already a reputable source for downloadable supplier CAD models and standard parts.

To attract new users, the company is offering certain social currencies, ranging from merit badges awarded to those who create and maintain interest-based groups to logos reflecting a member’s expertise in a specific CAD program. 3DX will also host regular challenges, called 3DX Model Showdowns, and winners will receive Amazon.com gift certificates of up to $100.

The current members of 3DX are mostly fervent users of specific CAD systems, such as groups for PTC Creo, AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, and SolidWorks. In addition the community also includes special interest groups, such as 3D Printing, 3D Hackers, and the Star Trek Modeling Group.

TraceParts launches a new community called 3DX to help connect CAD users with suppliers.

New website launched

TraceParts also announced the launch of the seventh major version of its website, www.traceparts.com, which has been completely redesigned to match the new Web standards with the goal of improving the user experience.

The site offers a new design as well as new structure: information retrieval and navigation of the new site are optimized by highlighting the three main services offered by TraceParts. In addition, the site’s content has now been translated into nine different languages.

CAD users now have intuitive access to the library of 3D components, the list of 3D catalog suppliers and the TraceParts Mobile application. The redesigned site makes it easier for component manufacturers to quickly find all the necessary information to convert their CAD data into a powerful 3D Marketing tool.

Marketing professionals have access to a whole range of digital marketing solutions, allowing them to promote their products to engineers and design professionals.

After its first month online, this new version of the site confirms the added value to its visitors. The average time spent on the site has increased by 25%, the number of page views has improved by 22% and the share of visits from search engines has increased by 23%.

The TracePartsOnline.net CAD portal is freely available to millions of CAD users worldwide, offering hundreds of supplier catalogs and over 100 million CAD models and product data sheets. You can check out the new 3DX Community here.
