Transducer tackles small spaces

Space for components in off-road construction equipment can be limited. But what happens when the machine requires a particularly large component? Either you must design around it, or look for an alternative. Celesco Transducer Products chose to provide machine builders with the second option with its SR1A-125 cable-extension transducers. They suit off-road construction equipment, as well as rugged applications such as position feedback in wet and other outdoor environments.

The transducer has a constant tension, fully retractable stainless steel measuring cable that easily attaches to the object under motion. The cable wraps around the internal spring loaded spool coupled to a precision sensor. The movement of the spool produces a voltage directly proportional to the position of the measuring cable. Cable alignment is not critical, so installation is quick and easy. Unlike rod-type sensors, the measuring cable fully retracts into the body, which shrinks the required space well beyond that of other position sensors.
