Trelleborg’s offshore operation is exhibiting a number of renewable products at the Global Offshore Wind Conference and Exhibition in London, including its cable and flowline protection systems, bend control solutions and buoyancy. Transferring proven products from the offshore industry is aiding the growth in renewable energy, as well as improving efficiency and safety.

Trelleborg’s renewable Distributed Buoyancy Modules (DBMs) are typically used between structures and a surface vessel or platform.

John Deasey, Renewables Sales Manager within Trelleborg’s offshore operation, says: “There seems to be an evolution in the way the industry thinks about energy and renewables are no longer just a concept but a reality. As the industry increasingly moves offshore, development in deep water can be short cut by transferring the knowledge and expertise that leading players have gained in the oil & gas industry to renewable energy. This will undoubtedly increase the pace of implementation.

“Trelleborg’s offshore operation is a world leader in offshore oil & gas, offers wind, water and wave energy solutions from bearings to cable protection systems to the world’s growing renewable energy and power generation market. We have a long-standing commitment to serve the renewables market supporting it with product development based on proven solutions that have been in situ in offshore applications long-term. Global Offshore Wind is the ideal platform for us to grow our relationships with key stakeholders and demonstrate our product portfolio.”

Renewable experts from Trelleborg will be available to meet and discuss various solutions including its API 17L1 certified dynamic bend stiffeners. Designed to ensure the manufacturers recommended minimum bend radius is not infringed during the life of the flexible cable, this solution prevents catastrophic failures at its termination point.

In addition, the company’s distributed buoyancy modules (DBM), Uraduct cable protection and bending restrictors will be able to be viewed on stand. These products are designed to secure, guide and protect the subsea electrical power cables from excessive movement and bending, which could cause fatigue damage.

Trelleborg’s renewable Distributed Buoyancy Modules (DBMs) are typically used between structures and a surface vessel or platform. The clamping solution allows the DBMs to be fitted at any point along the length of a flexible pipeline or cable. Similarly, bend restrictors reduce the damage to the tubular at the termination point by significantly decreasing the point loading.

Uraduct is a protection system designed and developed to protect subsea fiber optic cables, power cables, umbilicals, flexible flowlines, rigid flowlines, hoses and bundled products from abrasion and impact.
