e-con Systems has developed camera modules compatible with Renesas’ RZ/G3E microprocessor, extending the partnership that previously included RZ/V2N and RZ/V2H processors. The integration targets embedded vision applications in industrial automation, smart city infrastructure, and automotive systems.
The RZ/G3E microprocessor features an Arm Cortex-A55 processor core and includes dual-display support, secure connectivity options, and low-power operation for edge computing applications. The processor includes an Arm Ethos-U55 neural processing unit for AI acceleration.
e-con Systems has developed two camera modules for the RZ/G3E platform. The e-CAM22_CURZH incorporates a Sony STARVIS IMX462 sensor that captures Full HD video in low-light conditions down to 0.005 lux. The module operates at 30 fps at 1920×1080 resolution and includes automatic gain control and wide dynamic range processing.
The e-CAM25_CURZH features an onsemi AR0234 global shutter sensor that eliminates rolling shutter distortion when imaging moving objects. The module captures Full HD video at frame rates up to 120 fps and provides 2.3-megapixel resolution with 3μm pixel size for consistent exposure timing across the entire frame.
Both modules include integrated image signal processors that handle debayering, noise reduction, and color correction functions. The cameras connect via MIPI CSI-2 interface and comply with RZ/G3E evaluation kit specifications. Power consumption is rated at 1.2W for typical operation.
The camera modules support standard UVC drivers and include custom SDK options for application development. Temperature operating range extends from -30°C to +85°C for industrial deployment. Both modules are available through e-con Systems’ online store for immediate evaluation and prototyping.
