The release of Tecnomatix 9, a digital manufacturing software product, focuses on process planning, robotics simulation, and commissioning — the process of helping you optimize planning and manufacturing productivity. The software leverages Teamcenter software as an integrated
platform for manufacturing planning, from process authoring through simulation to documentation. Enhancements support re-use of best practices and standardization, and tools to help manage change management.
Using the Static Strength Prediction allows you to optimize your work processes in regards to ergonomics. Classic Jack provides several other ergonomic analysis methodologies.
One new function allows you to rapidly create and explore alternate product assembly/disassembly sequencing. Another automated planning task upgrade helps you manipulate the Jack human model component in 3D virtual environments.
Dimensional Planning and Validation (DPV) helps you capture large amounts of as-built data from measurement devices on the shop floor and manage them in Teamcenter. You can leverage search and analysis functions to analyze and compare data from various manufacturing plants. An automatic path planning function helps with offline robotic programming.
Other upgrades include:
• Standard libraries of intelligent components
• More realistic digital human models
• Enhanced time analysis and management capability
• Tighter integration with Teamcenter and Factory CAD
• Improvements to Tecnomatix Plant Simulation
Teamcenter 8 offers new support for IBM software including DB2 Information Manager, WebSphere Application Server, Tivoli Access Manager, Tivoli Storage Manager, and Rational ClearCase. The software also includes a Microsoft Outlook user interface and integration with Microsoft Office. The software embeds a “Teamcenter To Do List” inside Outlook so you can manage scheduling, workflow, and engineering change assignments based on Teamcenter through email.
Teamcenter supports enterprise collaboration by sending packages of information via email. Teamcenter emails the desired files — including lightweight 3D JT data — that can be read by the recipients using either Teamcenter or the free JT2Go application.
The product offers new integration for electronic design automation (EDA) tools. The application uses a menu-driven user interface to generate the same level of file access and data management functions with embedded electronic computer-aided design (ECAD) integrations. The software integrates development tools such as “Ready for IBM Rational” validated ClearCase integration to Application Lifestyle Management (ALM) with Product Lifestyle Management (PLM).
The new Content and Documentation Management feature with its Microsoft Office 2007 integration offers document management support for templates, embedded PLM menus, and automatic rendering to standardize document processes.
The software supports IBM middleware software and will ship to customers pre-configured with IBM DB2 Information Manager and WebSphere Application Server.
