Congresswoman-Candice-Miller-with-Academy-StudentPTI Engineered Plastics was honored by a visit from U.S. Representative, Candice Miller at their facility on Wednesday, March 11. Congresswoman Miller presented Mark Rathbone, CEO, with a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition in honor of being named Champion of Workforce Development and in recognition of outstanding and invaluable service to the community. The recognition was the result of PTI receiving the Macomb Business Award for Champion of Workforce Development awarded on February 10, to PTI Engineered Plastics by County Executive Mark Hackel.

PTI gave a brief overview of their operation and presented a film on the PTI Technical Academy, whose work with students’ grades 10-12 on the fundamentals of the manufacturing industry won PTI this award.

During this visit, Mr. Rathbone, took the opportunity to express his concern with medical device excise tax and the significant impact it will have on the workforce of the medical device manufacturers and their suppliers. The visit concluded with a plant tour where Congresswoman Miller had the opportunity to meet and talk with one of our new graduates from the Technical Academy.

PTI thanks Congresswoman Miller for taking the time to visit PTI at our home in Macomb, and for
listening to the concerns and challenges of our industry. We wish her well in her last congressional
term and are pleased that she will continue to make her home in the great state of Michigan.
