SUDBURY, USA and LYON, FRANCE— Varioptic and IVA Corporation announce today the launch of a 2 Megapixel CMOS digital camera – IVIN2M -ETH, with a variable focus liquid lens.
The new IVIN2M-ETH camera features a CMOS imager with selectable display resolution up to 1600 X 1200 incorporating a progressive scan sensor with an electronic rolling shutter. At 37mm by 37mm (1.45″ x 1.45″), it is a very low power, high performance CMOS image acquisition device.
The IVIN2M-ETH integrates the latest Varioptic variable focus Liquid Lens, Arctic 314, allowing “close up” to infinity focus control with no moving parts. The user has complete real-time dynamic control over focus during operation with the software GUI supplied with the camera, or set in the auto focus mode for completely automatic focus.
Varioptic’s Arctic 314 has been especially designed to match the requirements of low footprint systems, for both 1/4″ and 1/3″ formats. It is ideal for the latest camera applications such as video continuous auto focus which requires fast response time, low power consumption and high reliability. With no moving parts, the liquid lens is very robust and the perfect solution for harsh industrial environments.
The IVIN2M-ETH can be integrated in a wide range of applications from biometrics (excluding iris identification), bar code reading, webcams, surveillance, security systems, machine vision applications and general imaging systems.
The IVIN2M-ETH can be ordered through RMA Electronics, Inc. (MA), the world-wide exclusive distributor of the IVA USB cameras. A 5 Megapixel version will be available in the third quarter of 2008.
