This startup says that it can build self-contained, sustainable tiny houses for $64,000 to $97,000. They’re built in about eight hours by seven-axel 3D-printing robots. They include solar panels and smart temperature and humidity controls.
There is a bit of a catch: the base model of the house doesn’t include a kitchen, a bathroom, or the sustainable plumbing, so you’ll need to shell out some extra even for the basics. The walls are 20 centimeters thick and designed to last, with elements composed of carbon fiber, polyurethane, resins, basalt fibers, and fiberglass. We’ll have to wait and see how long these last, but the startup says that it has received more than 8,000 preorders for tiny houses in the United States. Delivery is expected to begin in January 2018.
