Artist Sachiko Kodama uses scientific processes to create chaotic but orderly ferrofluid sculptures. The piece “Protrude, Flow” was created in 2001, but her work is currently being exhibited in Kyoto, Japan. She has a bachelor’s degree in physics and explored the combination of 3D computer graphics, holography, and ferrofluids in art while working on her Ph.D. “Protrude, Flow” incorporates ferrofluid that reacts to ambient sound in the room in which the sculpture is displayed.
