Watlow Introduces ASPYRE, its New Family of Power Controllers

By Paige Beach | October 19, 2017

Share

Watlow® recently launched ASPYRE®, a new power controller family. Available in sizes ranging from 35 to 700 amps, the ASPYRE family is flexible, scalable and offered with a variety of options allowing one platform to be reused across a wide range of applications.

ASPYRE features multiple advanced microprocessor-based firing and control mode algorithms. Firing modes include zero cross, burst firing, single cycle, delayed triggering and phase angle. Combined with diagnostics and a wide range of communications options, ASPYRE enables equipment and factory automation.

Smart algorithms enable ASPYRE to easily control a wide range of load types including nichrome, moly, silicon carbide, tungsten quartz and infrared lamps and transformer coupled loads. It also protects and extends the life of connected loads.

ASPYRE delivers space and labor savings through modular options including controlled legs (1, 2, or 3), semiconductor fusing, load current measurement, amperage size and user interface.

ASPYRE controllers have industry-leading design and serviceability, and the robust SCR design meets the high quality and reliability needs of rugged industrial environments. Service fuses and individual legs are quick and easy to access, which saves downtime. Helpful thermal system diagnostics enable fast troubleshooting.

Communication protocols available include Modbus® RTU, Ethernet TCP, Wi-Fi, Profibus, Profinet and USB device.

Typical applications and industries include furnaces, ovens, autoclaves, kilns, heat treatment, glass, semiconductor, power generation, oil and gas, HVAC, textiles, plastics, packaging, petrochemical, dryers and curing.
