IDEAL Networks, a global innovator in network testing, installation and management products, today launched its new NaviTEK NT network tester engineered to help IT professionals quickly pinpoint and resolve connectivity issues for both copper and fiber optic cabling in active or passive networks. Built for maximum versatility, it offers faster discovery of link and IP information, and can detect services like ISDN and Power over Ethernet.
The NaviTEK NT is a convenient, more efficient alternative to a using a bulky laptop to troubleshoot networks. Once connected to the network, its Autotest function makes initial testing quick and easy by running a suite of critical network tests. Incorporating a vastly improved graphical interface, the NaviTEK NT provides summary information on its home screen for an “at-a-glance” snapshot of the network. It also enables access to detailed network parameters, including LLDP and CDP port information, Power over Ethernet (PoE), VLAN detection and operation, and Ethernet utilization showing broadcast network traffic in real time. In addition, its Netscan function displays the IP and MAC addresses of everything on the user’s network, while its Network Probe gives a visual illustration of the user’s network.
The NaviTEK NT is also the “go-to” device for accurate cable testing. Its buit-in Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR) locates common wiring faults such as open and short circuits in copper cabling. For fiber optic cabling, NaviTEK NT shows the optical power received from the switch. An optional inductive amplifier probe detects tones generated by the NaviTEK NT to facilitate cable tracing, while the hub blink aids port identification.
Once testing is complete, reports can be downloaded to a USB memory key or to an Android or Apple mobile device via the free IDEAL AnyWARE app. Cable installers and IT technicians in the field can wirelessly share test reports with off-site project managers and clients, resulting in greater collaboration, more on-time job completions and reduced costs.
