Some of the new features designers can expect in V20 of this FEA program include an integrated CAD/FEA modeling environment; a software wizard for applying bolt loads; support for design studies and optimization; texture display; multipoint constraints; an industry-standard sparse solver for fluid flow, heat transfer and linear dynamic analyses; and expanded capabilities for Mechanical Event Simulation (MES) including new hyperelastic and viscoelastic material models and a reinforced (rebar) concrete element.
All software features are available in FEMPRO, an interface for direct CAD/CAM data exchange with most CAD solid modeler programs. Algor software is also compatible with NASTRAN input and output files.
A few specific feature highlights of V20 include:
• Reading data points from Pro/Engineer as mesh seed points
• Improving support for Solid Edge on 64-bit Windows computers
• Support for merging FEA models
• Apply loads on internal vertices
• A queuing system for analysis on remote computer
• An Application Program Interface (API) for writing to the FEM file format
• Support for 64-bit HP Itanium HP-UX
• Support for multiple rotating frames of reference for 3-D modeling of complex fans and similar systems
• K-epsilon turbulence model for 3-D transient mixed Galerkin/Least-Squares (GLS) formulation with surface roughness effects
And more.
