Seoul, South Korea — INUS Technology, Inc. announced that it is sponsoring The Pierre BƒÂ©zier Award for Solid, Geometric and Physical Modeling and Applications. The award will be presented by the Solid Modeling Association during the closing ceremony of the ACM Solid and Physical Modeling Symposium 2008 (SPM’08).
First bestowed in 2007, the Solid Modeling Association (www.SolidModeling.org) created the prestigious Pierre BƒÂ©zier Award to recognize an individual or group for contributions made to the solid, geometric and physical modeling communities. According to the association, recipients’ contributions are to be enduring and of major technical importance.
The Pierre BƒÂ©zier Award was established with the approval and support of the BƒÂ©zier family. The Solid Modeling Association elected to name the award in his honor because of his pioneering work that led the transformation of design and manufacturing though the application of computer-aided design and three-dimensional modeling.
According to Hur, “Rapidform is proud to sponsor an award that honors the work of a man like BƒÂ©zier and the contributions of the award’s recipients. These advances are integral to our Rapidform 3D scanning software and the CAD/CAM programs with which it interfaces.”Hur noted that INUS Technology plans to sponsor similar awards that recognize advancements in modeling technology, CAD/CAM capability and 3D scanning operation.
ACM Solid and Physical Modeling Symposium 2008 will be held at Stony Brook University (Stony Brook, New York, USA) from June 2 – 4, 2008.
