The new MCB Series caliper brakes from Twiflex Ltd. are designed with special corrosion protection to withstand the harsh marine environment of offshore platforms where they are ideal for both static holding and emergency stopping of AC and DC draw works and for rugged duty on platform cranes and hoists.
Twiflex MCB Series caliper brakes are designed with corrosion protection specifically for offshore applications.
Six models of the MCB Series brakes, ranging in braking force from 30 kN to 200 kN, are designed to operate seamlessly with all common, primary and secondary braking systems including electrical, mechanical and hydrodynamic retarding devices.
Supplied either as a positive direct-acting brake or a spring-applied hydraulic-released version, each brake comprises a caliper body with a choice of actuators fitted between the arms. The brake is adjusted to fit a disc up to 36mm (1.42 in.) thickness and 1,100mm (43.3 in.) minimum diameter.
The brakes utilize modular construction design for easy maintenance and assembly. Self-adjusting thrusters automatically compensate for pad wear, and pads are riveted for operational reliability and ease of replacement. Vertical, horizontal or side mounting systems are available. Suitable for “soft-braking” the calipers are offered in a wide choice of designs based on standard components.
